Youth Programs

Arab American Family Services (AAFS) currently facilitates many youth empowerment programs designed to empower Arab and Muslim youth by developing career opportunities, building success and organizational skills, self-esteem, life skills, leadership, teamwork and environmental awareness.  Our youth programs include homework assistance, academic and cultural enrichment activities.

Tutoring
Tutoring offers sessions with skilled tutors. Assistance is available in all subject areas, reading groups and study groups. Programs include reading comprehension, grammar, spelling and vocabulary skills, and interactive language arts games.

Powered By Art
AAFS developed Powered By Art photography and writing program in 2012. Powered By Art is a program that partners up AAFS with local high schools to help enrich the development and personalities of Arab American students. Students have the opportunity to express their talents and creativity through the arts. The goal of Powered By Art, is to help students develop inner strength, raise their voices and become tomorrow’s leaders.

Partnership with Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Chicago Palestine Film Festival and Network of Arab American Professionals-Chicago
AAFS has developed a partnership with the above organizations to develop a mentoring program to ensure that every child has the ability to succeed and thrive in life. Designed for the Arab American community, this partnership makes meaningful, monitored matches between Arab American adult volunteers and Arab American children, ages 9 through 12, in communities across the Chicagoland area. We develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people.

Youth Employment Program
AAFS strives to create relationships with local businesses to help develop employment opportunities. AAFS offers job readiness, including resume building and career counseling.

College Prep
AAFA will facilitate and identify resources to help your child in ACT and SAT preparation. Many Arab immigrants may not be aware of the many opportunities available for their high school children. AAFS will educate and inform parents and students on what they need to know to be prepared for their college career.
